Ever notice those orchid genera that end in "ara"? They can be somewhat confusing to novice growers. Combinations between two genera, and some of the combinations of three genera, take part or all of each of the generic names and combine them to make one name. For example: Odontocidium is any combination of Odontoglossum and Oncidium. But you can run into big trouble with combinations of several genera. This has been simplified into using someone's name and adding "ara" to the end. Burrageara is named for Albert C. Burrage, the first president of the American Orchid Society. It has the genera Cochlioda, Miltonia, Odontoglossum and Oncidium in it. It's a whole lot better than something like Miltonicochlioncidioglossum!
