President's Message
******************************************************************************
Two years. It seems in some ways forever. At the same time it feels like only yesterday.
I was contemplating with trepidation what I had gotten myself into. Since this is
my last President's Message I would like to reflect a bit.
These last two years were very rewarding for me. For this I must thank the board
members, committee chairs, committees, and those who actively helped in achieving
the many goals we set. I am proud to be part of the team that has taken this young
society from it's first tottering steps to a full tilt run. The brain child of Neal
and Meredith Foster definitely took off these last two years. We have hosted two
very successful Orchid Festivals, have a newly formed study group, a wonderfully
stocked supply store, an organized and growing library, fun field trips, and significant
amendments to our constitution which will help us deal with the budget and to honor
individuals with special memberships. We have accomplished this and more while attending to the routine business
of our society. The newsletter continues to flourish, and I would be remiss if I
did not mention the significant increase of choice goodies at our refreshment table.
Our growth as a society can also be seen in the caliber of our plants. Which brings
me to thanking the rest of the membership for their support and enthusiasm during
these past two years. I have been fortunate and am honored to have served as president
of the AAOS.
Thank you,
Connie Bailie
