Fall Meetings ****************************************************************************** September: Our next meeting will be on Sunday, September 21st with Malcolm Adams speaking on constructing and growing orchids in Wardian Cases. Malcolm has designed several cases, and his articles and designs have been in the AOS Bulletin. We'll have more information in the next newsletter. October: The date of our October meeting has been change to Saturday, October 18. We have an opportunity to have Andrea Nissen of Cali, Colombia as a speaker, and so decided to move our meeting date. Andrea will also be speaking to GLOS, MOS and Cleveland on this trip. Her talk is "Old & New Exciting Colombian Species." Andrea will be bringing orchids to sell, and we have a price list available. You must get your order to Alex by August 25. ***************************************** Volunteers Needed! There are a number of positions in our society to be filled. Positions are available for Receptionists and the Refreshment Table (these two functions were combined under the hard work of Duane & Laura Duman, who now wish to help the Society in other capacities for a change), the Show Committee (display design and set-up at orchid shows); Lynn O'Shaughnessy and John Lewis have done this job for the past several years and have done a super job. Please volunteer, and if you feel you can only help part time, the positions may be shared. If you don't volunteer, we will be calling you! ***************************************** We have received a lot of requests to repeat last November's meeting on how our own society members grow their orchids indoors. This meeting was very informal and many felt they learned a great deal from their peers. We don't want to have the same members as last time, so we are looking for others to share their knowledge and experiences. Even if you only grow a few plants on a windowsill, we are interested. And if you don't speak well in front of others, we'll have someone to speak for you!
