President's Message
Well, we're of the way through our busy Spring show schedule.
Thanks again to Susan Crippen, and Barb Larime, as well as other
members who contributed plants. We had a fine showing at the
MOS show last weekend, winning a 2nd place ribbon for our display.
That came just a week after we put up a huge (8' x 28') display at the
flower show, due mainly to the efforts of Alex Challis, Connie Bailie,
Duane Duman, Dottie Winter (with a little help from her other half,
too), and, of course, those members who contributed plants, and
also manned the display for the four days it was up. For that, we
received the Governor's Trophy!
But the best of all will be our own Ann Arbor Orchid Festival. Barb
Larime is in charge of our display, so as always she'll need plants. The
sponsoring society usually seems to have the biggest and best display,
so let's not be any different. In addition to begging for plants for our
society display, I also want to put out an overt plea for every member
of the society to make a contribution to the festival, either in time,
materials, money, or any combination of those three. There's
specific information elsewhere in this newsletter as to how you can
contribute, but you can help anytime, bring food for Friday evening,
or lunch Saturday and Sunday (let Paige Hartman know what you're
bringing), or just make a cash contribution to the food fund, the
awards fund, or the general fund. Whatever you do, you'll be
contributing to making the Festival a success, and to benefit your
Society.
See you all at the Festival (and the Preview Party).
~ HARRY WINTER
