We discovered the necessity of a plant inventory this summer! Returning from vacation we found nearly all our
plant tags (which had been written in 'permanent' marker) faded and nearly illegible. Summering the plants
outdoors, the sun and water exposure had taken a great toll. The plants thrived - tags paled. Nearly 500 tags
needed to be rewritten!
Our plants are numbered. The number is recorded on the plant tag, the plant pot and a listing of the number and
name is also kept. If we had not had this inventory listing, many of out plants would have been in the
'unknown' category today.
Rewriting tags was a chore, but it would not have been possible to identify the plant to its correct name if there
had not been the number and name listing.
