News from the General Meeting -
September 15, 1996

President Don Farrelly called the meeting to order at 2:40p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Birmingham. A motion by Joe Fischer, 2nd Terri Edwards to approve the May minutes as written. Approved.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of Raymond McCullough. Donations to the Society in his memory will be used for a Raymond McCullough Memorial Trophy to be awarded at our annual Palm Sunday Show.

Elections: Diane Burton and Terri Edwards volunteered to serve on the nominating committee along with current trustees Wally Boguslaw and Karen Muir.

Trohies : Grace Bida has agreed to become our Trophy chairperson. A trophy ribbon will now be given to the member receiving the Margaret Ilgenfritz Species of the Month (plant table) trophy upon its return at the following monthly meeting.

MOS WebSite: Special thanks to Dennis Moser for creating some great Web pages for the Society on the Internet.

Shows: The Traverse City show is Oct. 26-27, Mid- America Nov.1-3 in Knoxville, Tn, and the Midland Show is during Thanksgiving vacation. Contact Alexis Linder (313 882-5474) if you are interested in setting up, assisting or helping to tear down an MOS display. The Society does supply funds to help defray the cost of those setting up our display. Invite a friend to go and help. It is always a lot of fun.

Alexis Linder gave a fantastic slide presentation on species.
